Dawkings did say if necessary they need to be ridiculed with contempt.

As an atheist mine is another approach. I personally don't care what you believe in. So long as you don't try to force your view through public in the public arenas such as schools you could believe in pink uniforms. It's when you try to do that II have trouble with.

A Hummingbird in My House

we just had a hummingbird in our house!

it flew in through an open door.

i had been cleaning my back patio and left the screen open for a few moments when i was putting stuff away.

I've had two similar experiences with birds.

One was a sparrow that I found on the floor of my workplace. I first thought it was a hummingbird but later was told it was a sparrow. I scooted it on a piece of thin cardboard and took to the desk of a coworker. Someone said that it must be cold laying on the desk so my coworker removed a beret that he was wearing and placed the birdie on it. I had to leave the area but later my coworker later told me that the bird recovered after he had fed it some birdseed that our company sold. It flew away well fed I presume. I never would have thought that it was starving.

The other was a bird that flew into my house because I had my screen door open. It was frantically trying to get out without realizing that the door to my bedroom was open. I turned the light out thinking that it would have been attracted to the light through my open door but it was still fluttering around. I then realized it must have been was afraid of my presence so I left my bedroom and it finally flew out through the door that it came in through. A good recommendation to those who experience the same would be not to use a broom but to leave the presence of an open door or maybe window preferably with sunlight.

as the bad conduct of the governing body becomes widely known to both judge and jury i expect that will make lawsuits more profitable against them and easier wins against them and more plentiful.. i think probably one of the most damming videos out there on the net is the one where the parents show their loyalty to the wt corporation and shun their own flesh and blood in obedience to it cruel directives.

this video truely shows that the governing body don't give a shit about the children who symbolize their dedication to the corporation or their parents.. such a self serving corporation that uses it members for profits only and offer nothing in return no matter how much how much they claim otherwise.

they can't hide this it is plain as day so no matter how much they claim they are concerned about the youth in the organization their action thunder loudly and can not be hiden under a basket.

Schoolyard bully mentality

i'm not naming names, but i just want to encourage people on here or on reddit or twitter, and tell you that you do not have to tolerate people who act like schoolyard bullies in the way they speak to you online.

i think anonymity is a big part of it.

they feel like there is zero accountability so they can be a bully all they want.. i recommend just ignoring or blocking anyone who is verbally abusive or treats you like schoolyard bullies treated you.. life is way too short to spend any time dealing with those kinds of people..

That is an unfair and arrogant question since atheists only make up 2% of the population which means they're outnumbered 50 to one. If you did any sincere research you would come up with some. And do realize that atheists from the past were unlikely to have made their atheism known to the public because of the social stigma involved.

Robert Wilson who donated 5.6 million dollars to Catholic schools in New York.

Warren Buffett who donated over$40 billion to “health, education, humanitarian causes.”

the speaker made a big point of stating that any baptized jw male who was not either appointed ms/elder, or at the very least "reaching out" actively, was in fact following jesus at a distance.

i am initially thinking of the major religious institutions of christianity , catholic ,many branches , church of england , and the major protestant religions , too numerous to mention here.. after all their is 40,000 plus christian religions in the world today ?so obviously j.w.`s are not the only false religion .. so my real question is really , to do with the mainstream christian religions , why are`nt they more aggressive in their condemnation of the jehovah witness religion for their obvious failings ,flip backs ,contradictions ,prophecy`s that never eventuated , end of the world predictions ,re-inventing their past history , even distancing themselves from their past history , and their founding members , such as c.t.russell and j.f.rutherford whose policies they now reject... they need to get on board and bleed it for all it`s worth .. smiddy .

In 1660 the Puritans in the Massachusetts colony executed a woman by the name of Mary Dyer for the heinous crime of having a different religion than theirs. Is this worse than the Witnesses? It's not that simple.

I view things on the basis of not just what a dictatorial group is and does but what they could become if allowed. The Watchtower would be executing people if they had sovereign territory - a country of their own.

In the 1970s when I was a teenage Witness there was an organization named Christian Research Institute (CRI) which was highly aggressive against the Witnesses. They would come to the JW assemblies and try to pass out literature.

I remember, on the day that I was baptized at Dodger Stadium, leaving for home in a school bus full of Witnesses. I saw the CRI people aggressively trying to flag down our bus down waving literature in their hands. The bus driver stopped out of curiosity before they realized who they were. I was curious so I looked out the window and reached out for whatever it was that they were waving. You should have seen the enthusiasm in their faces as they lifted the literature up to me. When I got it, it was a crudely mimeographed/Xeroxed magazine called Not the Watchtower.

When the Witnesses found out who they were and saw that I was getting a copy they were frantically yelling at me telling me not to read it. I had opened a page and saw the most garish type setting. While I only glanced at the article without reading it I saw all sorts of dates and quotes in all capital letters.

there are a lot of people on this site and others who even though they don't believe anymore still fill the seats at the meetings.. i was just wondering, if they all decided to leave at the same time, how many do you think would leave?

would the numbers drop dramatically?

If they weren't to be shunned by family or friends maybe 25% would leave.

75% left during the Rutherford takeover and it only distilled the organization down to the hard core. There would be less money and free labor though if many left.
